Fire safety
Reduce ignition and smoke hazards, evacuate early, and only attempt extinguishment when the fire is small and escape remains clear.

Prevent first
Keep heat sources stable and supervised. Separate fuel from ignition, inspect damaged electrical equipment, ventilate combustion, and keep exits clear.
- Know two ways out of sleeping and gathering spaces.
- Keep children away from flames, fuel, generators, and improvised cooking.
- Use generators and combustion appliances outside and away from openings.
- Treat smoke as a life threat; stay low only while escaping and never search a burning structure alone.
Choose evacuation
Raise the alarm, call emergency services, move people to safety, close doors if it does not delay escape, and account for everyone at a meeting point. Never re-enter for belongings.
Extinguish only within limits
A trained person may use the correct extinguisher on a small, contained fire with a clear exit behind them. If the fire grows, smoke thickens, or the exit is threatened, leave immediately.
